BBL Before and After in Turkey: How to Read the Photos

Table of Content
BBL before-and-after photos are useful, but only if you know what to look for. A good comparison uses the same angle, lighting and posture, shows the stage of healing, and comes from someone with a similar build to yours. A photo taken a few weeks after surgery shows swelling as well as fat, and a single photo cannot tell you how much fat survived or how your own body will heal.
If you came here to see results first, go straight to our BBL before-and-after gallery. It shows photos of patients whose Brazilian butt lift in Turkey was coordinated by Plastic Surgery Turkey Group (PSTG), and each photo is one patient. This guide explains how to read them, what they can and cannot tell you, and how to use them when you talk to a surgeon. For the operation itself, see our Brazilian butt lift page.
How to read BBL before-and-after photos#
Photos can mislead without anyone meaning them to. Use this checklist before you rely on any image, including ours.
- Same angle and posture: compare front, side and back views taken in the same stance. Arching the lower back, tilting the pelvis or tensing the glutes changes the look of the buttocks in seconds.
- Same lighting and distance: shadows can deepen or flatten a curve, and wide-angle lenses distort shape.
- The timing of the after photo: an image taken a few weeks after surgery shows swelling and a larger volume than the final result. The shape settles over three to six months, so ask how long after surgery the photo was taken.
- The donor areas as well as the buttocks: much of the change comes from the slimmer waist and flanks, not only the added volume. Check whether the waist and hips changed too.
- A similar starting point: compare with patients who have a similar build, weight and amount of donor fat to yours, not with the most dramatic example.
- Clothing, tanning and editing: swimwear, a tan, makeup and filters all change how skin and shape appear.
- One patient, one result: a photo does not predict your outcome. It shows what happened to that person with her anatomy, healing and aftercare.
If a provider will not tell you when a photo was taken or who the patient was in terms of build, be cautious.
What a BBL can and cannot change#
A BBL uses your own fat, taken by liposuction from areas such as the abdomen, flanks, back or thighs and placed in the buttocks. Good results usually show a more defined waist, rounder buttocks with more projection, and a smoother transition between waist, hips and thighs. The change depends on how much donor fat is available and how much of the transferred fat survives.
There are limits worth knowing before you look at photos:
- A BBL adds volume and refines contour, but it does not tighten loose buttock skin.
- Part of the transferred fat is reabsorbed in the first months, so the final volume is smaller than the volume placed.
- Very slim patients have less fat to move, so the change is usually subtler. Our skinny BBL page explains what is realistic with limited donor fat.
- Stretch marks, cellulite and skin texture are not corrected by fat transfer.
Why bodies look different after the same operation#
No two BBL plans are identical. The surgeon builds the plan around your body, and several factors change the result.
- Body structure: how much donor fat you have and where it sits.
- Skin elasticity: firmer skin generally supports a smoother result.
- Desired volume: how much fat can be transferred safely, which is limited.
- Healing and aftercare: following the sitting rules, wearing the compression garment and attending follow-up all influence fat survival.
- Safety: the surgeon sets limits on how much is done, and the safe plan may be smaller than the one you imagined.
This is why two people with the same operation can look different a year later, and why comparing yourself with one photo is not a reliable way to plan.
Recovery behind the photos#
The after photo in a gallery hides the work of recovery. For about the first two weeks you avoid sitting or lying directly on your buttocks, sleep on your front or side, wear a compression garment and walk a little every day. Sitting returns gradually, exercise is built up in stages, and the shape continues to change over three to six months. Our guide to BBL recovery and long-term results walks through the timeline, including how to keep the result.
Questions to ask when you look at any photo#
Bring the photos you like to your consultation and ask:
- how long after surgery each photo was taken;
- how closely the patient's build and donor fat resemble yours;
- what volume was transferred and how much is expected to survive;
- where the surgeon places the fat, because depth is the main safety point in a BBL, and international plastic surgery societies have advised placing fat beneath the skin rather than in or beneath the muscle;
- what the plan would be if you want more volume than your own fat can safely give.

How PSTG fits in#
PSTG is a health-tourism intermediary affiliated with TÜRSAB. We coordinate your assessment, travel and aftercare, and the operation is performed by the treating surgeon at a contracted healthcare institution in Istanbul or Antalya. The surgeon decides what is safe and realistic for your body. After you send photos of yourself and your medical history, you receive a written treatment plan and quote.
You can also read what other patients say on our patient reviews page, keeping in mind that reviews describe experiences, not promises of a result.
If you would like to know whether a BBL could suit your body, contact us for a free, no-obligation assessment. You can take your time with the surgeon's opinion and the written plan before deciding anything.
